APAC Victoria - Volunteer Application Information
The tentative dates for APAC Victoria are Friday the 8th of April – Wednesday the 13th of April
Spin Circus is a small company who rely on volunteers to ensure the smooth running of our events. In 2022 we are looking to have 11 volunteers. We will do our best to ensure that volunteers do not miss out on any of the workshops. However, there may be occations where you will unfortunatly need to help during a workshop, so please keep this in mind before applying.
We are looking for people who are reliable, community minded, proactive, friendly, inclusive and a team player. If that sounds like you, check out our volunteer positions below and complete the application form.
Volunteer applications close on the 15th of Janurary. You will be notified by email regarding your success.
Position Descriptions
Set up crew (2 positions available)
Time allocation: You will be expected to be onsite and ready to work early on the 7th of April (set up day). This will be a full day of work (possibly 10+ hours). You will also be needed on arrival day (8th April) where you will be required to assist participants when arriving & direct them to the check in areas. You may also be called upon during the festival to help with setting up workshop areas or maintaining shading structures. If you are staying on for Spin Festival, we would also love if you could assist with pack- down.
Payment: A free festival ticket (camping accommodation included)
Experience: No experience is required; however, this position is hard physical work and can be quite strenuous. Keep that in mind before applying.
Description: Your responsibilities will involve various jobs including (but not limited to); helping to set up shading structures, glamping tents and aerial rigs. Additionally, you may be required to help set up signage, move crash mats, set up workshop areas or drive to shops to buy additional equipment or supplies.
Coffee Machine Manager for both APAC & Spin Festival
(1 paid position available)
Time allocation: You will have no formal rostered times but will be required to work as much as you need to, to ensure the smooth operation of the coffee area.
Payment: A free festival ticket for both APAC & Spin Festival & a payment to be discussed.
Experience: Barista and managerial experience is required for this position.
Description: You will oversee the selling and making coffees at the coffee machine. You will be required to work at the coffee machine and organise the coffee machine volunteers as well as the handling of money and stock. You will be required to drive offsite to get more supplies. You will report to the Volunteer Coordinator.
Barista (2 positions available)
Time allocation: You will be rostered on for a period each day and will work approximately 12 hours during the festival.
Payment: A free festival ticket (camping accommodation included)
Experience: People with barista experience are needed for these positions.
Description: In addition to making coffee, you will need to collect and wash coffee cups, empty bins, re-stock coffee/milk and generally keep the coffee area clean, presentable, and tidy. You will report to the Coffee Machine Manager.
Bar staff (2 positions available)
Time allocation: You will be rostered on for 2 nights during the festival plus the Renegade night.
Payment: A free festival ticket (camping accommodation included)
Experience: You must have your RSA to apply for this position.
Description: During your rostered shifts, you will be required to set up the bar, ensuring that all alcohol is chilled and ready to be served. Additionally, you will need to pre-make cocktails, empty bins, re-stock alcohol and generally keep the bar area clean, presentable, and tidy. You will also need to help clean up the morning after renegade. You will be given your roster prior to the event and will report to the bar manager, Sam Matthewman.
Runner 1 - General Cleaning (1 position)
Time allocation: You will be required to fulfil the job requirements listed below, you may do this at the time that suits you. Estimated 12 hours work.
Payment: Half price festival ticket (camping accommodation included)
Experience: No experience is required for this position.
Description: Runner 1 will be responsible for the following jobs:
-Ensuring water containers are full/refilled each day.
-Filling the sink ready for wash up prior to every meal.
-Cleaning & putting away dishes after each meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
-Emptying rubbish & recycling bins every day.
-Help set up for Renegade
-Clean up after Renegade (meet at the bar at 9am on the 13th of April)
Runner 2 - Hall/Bar Cleaning (1 position)
Time allocation: You will be required to fulfil the job requirements listed below. Estimated 12 hours work.
Payment: Half price festival ticket (camping accommodation included)
Experience: No experience is required for this position.
Description: Runner 2 will be responsible for the following jobs:
-Keeping the hall/bar area neat and tidy at all times.
-Sweeping and mopping the hall/bar area every morning before classes at 730am
-Vacuuming the acro-mats each morning
-Sweeping and mopping the bar area prior to Renegade
-Help set up for Renegade
-Clean up after Renegade (meet at the bar at 9am on the 13th of April)
Ninja ( 2 positions )
Time allocation: You will be required to help out when needed. Estimated 12 hours work.
Payment: Half price festival ticket (camping accommodation included)
Experience: No experience is required for this position. However, we are looking for pro-active individuals who will complete tasks without being asked, jump in to help and solve problems.
Description: Ninjas will be required to be on call during the entirety of APAC. You will have no rostered tasks; however, you may be called on when extra things need doing, this may include tasks such as; assisting on the coffee machine, bar, troubleshooting problems, cleaning toilets, driving offsite to purchase equipment/food, helping the caterers, cleaning eating areas, setting up for Renegade, cleaning up after Renegade and setting up workshops.
